Thank you for your interest in Braunton School and Community College.  I hope that you find the information on this website both interesting and informative. We are a successful 11-16 Specialist Status Community School with 711 students currently on roll.  Our specialist status is in the field of Mathematics and Computing and the whole curriculum benefits from the additional resources and staffing that our specialism brings us.

Staff take pride in our academic success.
We take great pride in our strong record of academic success and the opportunities that we offer our students through our varied curriculum and our extensive range of extracurricular activities.  We continue to consistently perform well above the national and local average, with good added value over the past three years. In 2009, we achieved our best results ever with 77% of our Y11 students achieving 5A*-C grades and 59% achieving 5A*-C including English and Maths.   Many students achieved 10 or more top GCSE or equivalent grades with 23.5% achieving A*/A grades.

Success for all in our learning community.
We strive to ensure that all students achieve their potential through a clear focus on learning and achievement in a supportive and caring learning environment.  We are proud of the fact that we know every student as an individual and we aim to challenge, engage and motivate all of our students regardless of ability so that they all can confidently enjoy their learning to achieve success in a very secure and friendly environment.

Teamwork with high expectations.
As staff team we demand much of ourselves and have very high expectations of the students in our care.  We have an excellent and well qualified teaching team who enjoy the support of a highly effective team of teaching assistants, technical, site and administration staff.  We especially value the supportive collaboration with our parents, ensuring that this partnership is strong and to the benefit of your son or daughter. Our 'Home-School Agreement' clearly defines our shared commitments to this important relationship to maximise the support for your child's learning.

Come and see our success as we work.
Our September Open Evening offers parents and students the opportunity to visit the school to meet me, my staff and some of the students. If you would like to visit the school during the day, while the students are learning in their classes, we will be very pleased to arrange tours which can be scheduled at your convenience.  Please contact my PA, Ms Johnson, to book a tour.

A first class education that meets the needs of all of our young people.
I aim to build on the school's excellence and I look forward to working hard with the staff and the young people in our care to provide a first class education that meets the needs of all of the students in a very fast changing world. I want success for all in our learning community.
